This way you get the best of both worlds, getting the used vehicle price with the safety of getting a vehicle from a dealership. The next question becomes, out of the many versions of the F-150 which one is the best for you and yours? This article will show you the upsides of the most recent versions of the F-150 and which ones will be a contender for the spot in your driveway.

1992 – 1996 Ford F-150

This generation has all of the 90s flair that anyone could ever want. The F-150 is very boxy and lower to the ground than we are used to with more modern F-150s. This generation may not come close to modern towing and payload capacities, but is an awesome rebuild most of the time and has that classic F-150 look. The max towing capacity of this generation was 7,500 pounds.

1997 – 2003 Ford F-150

We now enter the realm of more modern F-150s and vehicles that are better at hauling people and trailers. The Super Duty was introduced during the years and this left the F-150 focused on carrying people comfortably and to be the champion truck of weekend warriors. This generation changed the boxy look to the curves we became used to in the early 2000s, these trucks are able to haul and move trailers, but may not be as attractive as the 90s truck or the current model years. Towing capacity for this generation ranged from 5,000 to 8,000 pounds.

2004 – 2008 Ford F-150

11th gen f-150

This year of F-150 dialed back the curves of the early 2000s a bit with a boxy design and more modern creature comforts. Families could now fit in these pickup trucks with more comfort and space than ever before. V6 and V8 engine power were still readily available but with less power than the current generation. Towing capacity for this generation ranged from 2,200 to 9,500 pounds.

2009 – 2014 Ford F-150

12th gen f-150

This generation Ford started to produce engines focused on maximizing fuel economy and the Ford EcoBoost engine in its fledgling years. The first Tremor trim was introduced near the end of the generation in 2014. With this came a tougher Ford that was built with a focus completely on off-roading and would eventually lead to the Ford Raptor’s birth. Towing capacity ranged from 5,100 to up to 11,000 pounds on certain models.

2015 – 2020 Ford F-150

13th gen f-150

Excluding the current generation this is the most modern version of the F-150 yet. With creature comforts maximized, the introduction of the Raptor trim in 2017 and more power than ever before. These F-150s are more like the current generation with boxy cues and a 5 – star NHTSA rating. Towing capacity ranged again from around 5,000 to 8,000 pounds.

2021 – Current Ford F-150

This Ford is built for tough work and also for in depth comfort. Ford introduced a hybrid platform for their F-150 and more recently an all electric powertrain. The truck also features more power than ever with the recent Raptor R and standard engines being upgraded with more horses. Current models can tow up to 11,000 pounds.

Summary

As Ford can promise with most of their vehicles, the F-150 is no different. The Ford F-150 is for everyone, and anyone can find exactly what they want in an F-150. This rings true for modern pickups and for their used models as well. Call us now to see what trucks we may have available and in our stock.
